Mommy Fury’s grudge match against YouTuber Jake Paul has been called off, according to reports.
The Mirror claims Fury has pulled out of this weekend’s fight, with Paul set to fight Tyron Woodley as a last-minute replacement instead.
The pair were due to meet in Florida on Sunday, but Fury, the brother of world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, has reportedly missed training due to illness in recent days, although no reason for his withdrawal has yet been confirmed.
Paul beat UFC fighter Woodley in Cleveland earlier this year to take his undefeated professional record to four fights. On the same card, Fury beat Anthony Taylor, and a heated exchange between the two on the night intensified the animosity between them.
Fury, who owns his own record of 7-0, is said to have been Paul’s first full-time professional opponent after the 24-year-old scored victories against two former MMA stars, a former basketball player and a another web celebrity in his first four fights.
During a heated press conference ahead of the fight, Fury was in an optimistic mood about his chances of taking advantage of Paul’s inexperience.
“I don’t care what he [Paul] say, do or think because it doesn’t matter because when he jumps those ropes on December 18th and when he realizes I’m not a YouTuber, I’m not a basketball player, I’m not a wrestler, I’m not a UFC Fighter, he’ll be hit with a nice sharp blow.
