John Fury and his son Tommy can’t believe they have the chance to fight Jake Paul, with the two likening the fight to “rob a bank and get away with it.”
The outspoken American wanted to face a legitimate boxer who had defeated four novices in his first four fights, eventually settling on Fury and the date is set for December 18 in Tampa, Fla.
Fury is also a relative newbie at an early stage of his career, having had seven fights and one stint in the 2019 Love Island series at the age of 22.
Both men are gaining attention on social media, but the time for talking will soon be over when the ring clears and there will be only one referee separating them.
Speaking to talkSPORT after his virtual press conference with the YouTube star, young Fury admitted he was “living the dream” and vowed to become a star in America.
“This is an opportunity you can’t turn down,” he told talkSPORT. “I’m fortunate enough to rob a bank and not go to jail for it, on a massive global stage.
“It doesn’t get bigger than that for me, it happened early – seven fights, 22 years old – I’m living the dream!
“You can’t say I’m not; I get paid millions of pounds to go out and deal with a YouTuber in sunny Florida. Is it improving? I do not think so.
“Fight number eight in my trip, this is my go-out party,” he added. “I’m going to be very well known in America after this because even mentioning this guy’s name in the same as mine, in boxing terms, is terrible.
“I’m going to prove that on December 18th and all these so called people who know what they’re talking about – the ex-world champions – I’m going to prove that they don’t know anything about boxing when I take this apart. man.”
With his compatriot Tyson sitting next to him for the virtual press conference, Fury Sr was equally stunned to see his 22-year-old earning an incredible amount of money at such an early stage in his career and promised Paul that ‘he would remain’ collapsed up ‘after the fight.
“I’m preparing my counting fingers,” Fury Sr told talkSPORT. “I warm my fingers to count all this money.
“At least Dick Turpin had the principle of putting on a mask, it’s a big trick of confidence that we pulled on the brains of the world and they didn’t see it, but we got away with it.
“So I can’t wait, everything is fun and playful, I enjoy it more than anything I have ever enjoyed in my life. Can’t wait to see this YouTuber collapse in a corner crying with his girlfriend.
