I’m just obsessed with winning. That feeling of being on the top step of the podium, with the national anthem playing and winning the Olympics, after all the practice and sacrifice, is the best feeling there is. I’m just greedy, just wanna earn it again. To do something that no one else has done, I could retire happy and get up my feet!

Jones, the reigning two-time Olympic champion, has openly said that anything less than gold is “a failure” in her eyes. Her victories in London and Rio came to packed houses, but this time around she’ll have to dig deep and produce without the roar of a crowd or the oversight of her family.

Since Rio, Jones has won the world and European titles, and having been the defending champion before, she knows what it’s like to compete with a target on your back.

After participating in the 100m breaststroke heats the day before, Peaty adam will almost certainly be in the semifinals on Sunday. Until April 30 this year, the top 20 fastest strokes in the 100 breaststroke had his name beside them and the returning Olympian believes his best is yet to come.

“It’s not an arrogant thing, it’s just a mindset that we’ve built,” Peaty said. “I want to go out there and do what I do. And if I play, then I don’t think a lot of people would come close.”

The success of his semi-final would see the world record holder win a second Olympic title in the 100m breaststroke on Monday.
