The only Frenchman still competing in the boxing tournament of the Tokyo Olympics, Mourad Aliev was eliminated on disqualification from the referee in the + 91 kg category on Sunday, which the boxer saw as an injustice.
“It’s unfair, everyone saw that I won”, protested Aliev, still in the ring, when the referee had just informed him of his disqualification for a head butt to his opponent the Briton Frazer Clarke. Incredulous and angry, Aliev, who seemed to dominate the fight after a given first round winning 3 judges to 2, then circled in the ring, going to his opponent to say “I won”.
During the fight, Clarke had to be treated twice by the left browbone, and it was after the second treatment that the referee, grouping the boxers, announced his decision.
After the officialization of the result by the speaker, the Frenchman then made the sign ” no ” with his fingers in front of the cameras. Still sitting on the edge of the ring a few minutes after the decision, the French and his clan did not seem to believe it.
“It is not possible, I won, everyone saw it”, continued to repeat Aliev.
“There was indeed an error of the arbitration”
Questioned in front of the France TV camera later, Mourad Aliev’s anger had not subsided: “they (the referees) admit that they made a mistake, but cannot reverse the decision. It is a scandal. I don’t have the words. I suffered an injustice (…), everyone knows that I won, that I was robbed. It’s a flight “.
Okay, we’ll have to explain it to me. Boxing is a COMBAT sport. Since 2012, there are no more helmets in the Olympic tournament BUT if you bleed your opponent, you get disqualified ???? https://t.co/sgUrHOAhCx

“The organization explained to us that there was indeed an error in the refereeing,” said his coach, John Dovi. They re-viewed the fight twice and saw no error on Mourad’s part. But the rules say you can’t change the decision. So we stay like that. We tried to do a sitting, because it is unacceptable ”.
The elimination of Aliev marks the end of hopes for medals for France in boxing in Tokyo, since no tricolor representative is in contention. Boxing, a formidable provider of medals in Rio in 2016 (six medals, two titles), therefore leaves the Tokyo Games without a single medal.
