Timeline: Showers return to Bay Area today and tomorrow, Sierra winter storm warning


SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — A level 1 storm is coming this afternoon and evening with gusty winds and rain, sometimes briefly heavy.

A winter storm warning will be issued for the Sierra at 4 p.m. today and will remain in effect until 10 p.m. Sunday. One to three feet of snow is expected above 5,000 feet.

Heavy snow and gusty winds will make travel difficult, if not impossible.

There is a slight risk of thunderstorms on Sunday. It starts rainy and windy.

Scattered showers will continue in the afternoon before easing in the evening. A cooler day is expected. Cool mornings await the start of next week, followed by milder afternoons.
