Timbaland stumbled upon Shannon Sharpes’ podcast and shared how Jay-Z and Drake helped him through the “darkest time” of his addiction.

Timbaland recently dropped the Club Shay Shay podcast with Shannon Sharpe and open about addiction. Timbaland shared that Vicodin made him “feel like Superman” and “overcame everything”. Additionally, he disclosed that he takes up to 160 milligrams of OxyContin per day.

“Everyone I know who’s done that is dead, so I think I even died at some point,” he recalled. “I had an out of body experience where I was lying in the bed and I saw myself lying in the bed. From that point God made me change my mind and I’m not went to see a doctor. I did cold turkey.

The Verzuz co-founder also confessed that his addiction has changed the way he acts in public. He reveals that Jay-Z noticed his behavior and advised him to avoid doing interviews. Drake also noticed his behavior and reached out to check on the producer.

“JAY-Z is a prophet,” he told Sharpe on the show. “God sent him. I have never seen anyone like him. Hov raised me, and he doesn’t even know it. He raised me in the middle of music. He was so prolific, so wise beyond his years, that I was simply amazed to watch him. Timbaland noted, “That’s why I had a different connection with JAY when it came to my music. We were rewriting the Bible, in a way.

“Even Drake told me… That’s why I think these guys are special to the world. Now once they give you the information, it’s up to you to use it. I’m not got out before dark, man, and that’s why I say it’s all love with these guys. They helped me through my darkest time.
