Tim Tebow tries to track down Jaguars coach Urban Meyer, report says

Men from Florida, get together.

According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer recently brought in former Florida Gator quarterback and Tim Tebow for a try, with a twist: Tebow was brought in to a tight try, presumably leaving his dreams of passing in the past.

The Broncos’ first-round pick in 2010 hasn’t played in the NFL since 2012 when he took pictures for the Jets.

Rapoport reported that Tebow could play more of a gadget-like role of Saints quarterback Taysom Hill.

Tebow and Meyer combined for two national championships at the University of Florida in 2006 and 2008. Tebow would be drafted by Denver in 2010 but would have a brief and ineffective NFL career. He did so with a playoff game with the Broncos, but precision issues torpedoed his run as a potential QB franchise.

Meyer spent time as the Ohio State head coach between 2012 and 2018, signed up as the Jags’ head coach last season. Meyer waits with the No.1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, which will presumably go to the selection of Trevor Lawrence of Clemson.

Tebow recently called for quitting his baseball career after working in the Mets minor league system for a number of seasons. Tebow, 33, has never taken a snap in the NFL as a tight end.

Of course, where there is Tebow, there are tweets, and NFL Twitter had things to say on the news:
