Tim Sherwood backed to replace Antonio Conte at Tottenham: ‘You could do much worse’

The former Spurs striker has backed his former team-mate to return to north London as the club prepare to sack Conte before his contract runs out this summer.
Julian Nagelsmann and Mauricio Pochettino have both been linked with work while the Italian is staying away from training during a break at his family home.
But Sheringham thinks there is a better option here.
“Let (Conte) go and bring someone else,” he told talkSPORT.
“I would let him go now and bring (Tim Sherwood) in. I will do it. I think you can do much worse than bring in Tim Sherwood.
“He’s a man who knows what he wants as a football manager. He’s had a few tries, he’s been sacked and he understands the game. If you listen to him talk you know he knows how football works.
“Football minds, he can see who’s cheating, who wants the ball and who doesn’t. Put him in charge and get them into shape.
Sherwood, 54, led Spurs for five months after taking over from Harry Redknapp in December 2013, winning half of his 28 games in charge.
