Tiger Woods has an impressive comeback at the 2022 Masters

Tiger Woods’ return to golf has been a success.

Woods shot a 1-under 71 in the first round of the Masters on Thursday to put him in a solid position as much of the field struggled with the windy conditions at Augusta National.

Woods showed few, if any, signs of the serious leg injury – suffered in a frightening car accident – that kept him out of the PGA Tour for 14 months running the hilly course.

Woods was masterful around the greens most of the day, going up and down for par on several occasions.

“Incredible or phenomenal,” CBS analyst Nick Faldo said on the show after Woods poured a putt par 18 to complete his round.

There were also opportunities for Woods’ turn to be even lower as he finished even on par-5 fours, including a bogey on the No. 8, which he usually feasts on.

Cam Smith was the club leader at under 4 when Woods finished his round late in the afternoon.
