Tiemoue Bakayoko: Chelsea FC midfielder held at gunpoint by police offers in Milan

The Frenchman spent last season with AC Milan and helped the club win Serie A for the first time in over a decade and dramatic footage shows the moment he was arrested by armed police in the Italian city.

Bakayoko reportedly reached a roadblock in the Porta Garibaldi area and was then forced out of his vehicle at gunpoint.

In a video tweeted by Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri, the 27-year-old can be seen pressed against a police car while a male officer undertakes a thorough search. Two other officers point their guns at Bakayoko’s car.

Bakayoko’s pockets seem to be empty during the ordeal, the contents of which are deposited on the roof.

One of the agents seems to realize the case of mistaken identity and the search ends.

Bakayoko is set to leave Chelsea this summer after failing to convince following his £40m move from Monaco in 2017, with Marseille emerging as an option.

“After a shootout in the area where the midfielder was, the police started carrying out checks,” an AC Milan spokesman said.

“The player was arrested but as soon as the police verified he had nothing to do with what happened, they apologized and let him go.”
