Thousands of federal officials are asking for religious exemptions to avoid coronavirus vaccines.

At the IRS, 2,000 of some 70,000 employees had filed exemption requests by mid-October, the vast majority for religious reasons, according to the Professional Managers Association, which represents agency directors. The General Service Administration received about 1,000 requests for religious and medical exemptions, a lawyer familiar with the number said, and TSA officials expected theirs to number in the thousands out of a staff of 65,000.
