This time of year offers plenty of opportunities to make significant updates to your gaming kit without spending too much money. Gaming monitors can be particularly expensive, but you can save money on a number of LG gaming monitors with Black Friday deals. Our pick for the best gaming monitor came at a record price: the LG 27GR95QE-B is $220 off and $780 right now.
It’s a 27-inch QHD OLED display with 1440p resolution, 240Hz refresh rate, and sub-1ms pixel response times. We’re yet to see a dedicated gaming monitor with better HDR performance. However, it should be noted that with a maximum of around 200 nits, the screen is not very bright.
It’s also worth keeping in mind typical issues with OLED displays, such as potential burn-in and text readability. But if that’s not a concern for you and you have money to spare, we highly recommend the LG 27GR95QE-B.
If you prefer to get a mid-range monitor, consider LG’s 27GL83A-B. It’s also available at a record low price, but at a much more palatable $200. That’s $100 off. The 27GL83A-B is one of our favorite mid-range gaming monitors. It has a 27-inch IPS display, 165Hz refresh rate, and 1440p QHD resolution. Unless you have a high-end gaming rig (say with a GeForce RTX 4080 or 4090 GPU), this monitor should more than do the job.
On the other hand, the power supply is not integrated into the screen case, so you will have a bulky power supply to manage. Plus, like most LCDs, you won’t get true HDR here. That said, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better mid-range gaming monitor for $200.
