Xiaomi 12 Pro pricing in India starts at Rs. 62,999 – Xiaomi’s new flagship phone debuted in India this week to take on the likes of the OnePlus 10 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S22. It offers features like a 120Hz E5 AMOLED display, as well as three rear cameras, one of which has a wider aperture than you normally see. The Xiaomi 12 Pro is also the company’s first phone to debut in the Indian market with the high-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. Additionally, it comes in 8GB and 12GB RAM options, along with 256 GB of built-in storage as standard.
To understand just how good the Xiaomi 12 Pro is in its price segment, Orbital host Akhil Arora talks to Senior Reviewer Sheldon Pinto and Editor-in-Chief Roydon Cerejo during this week’s episode of Gadgets 360 podcast.
The Xiaomi 12 Pro comes with a 6.72-inch E5 AMOLED WQHD+ (1440 x 3200 pixels) display which is equipped with second-generation LTPO technology to deliver a dynamic refresh rate between 1Hz and 120Hz.
The phone also has a triple rear camera setup that houses all of the 50-megapixel sensors – aiming to deliver a consistent experience whether you’re capturing a wide-angle landscape or a regular portrait.
Xiaomi has equipped Sony IMX707 as the main sensor in the camera setup. It is a 1/1.28 inch large size sensor to deliver a premium experience. The Xiaomi 12 Pro’s telephoto lens also comes with an f/1.9 aperture which is quite rare and not available on most competing options.
Along with the distinctive camera, the Xiaomi 12 Pro features quad speakers designed to deliver a surround sound experience. The phone also features Dolby Atmos for enhanced audio output and Dolby Vision for immersive HDR viewing.
First impressions of the Xiaomi 12 Pro: a slim and stylish high-end smartphone
The Xiaomi 12 Pro also comes with 120W fast charging which the company previously offered on its mid-range models including the Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge 5G and Xiaomi 11T Pro 5G. If you don’t want a traditional charging experience, the phone offers 50W wireless charging.
One of the key areas where the Xiaomi 12 Pro downgrades the experience is the preloaded MIUI 13 which comes with regular bloatware, which you’ll also get on other Xiaomi phones. The phone also doesn’t have a waterproof rating, or even splash resistance. This means you have to be very careful that it falls into a bucket of water.
We talk about some of the unique camera features available especially on the Xiaomi 12 Pro that can come in handy for your next photo or video shoot. Additionally, we touch on the fact that Xiaomi has room for the Xiaomi 12 Ultra to bring it as an upgrade to the Xiaomi 12 Pro in the near future.
