The West Chester Borough Fire Department rescues a Jack Russell terrier mix that got stuck hunting groundhogs in Cheser County, Pennsylvania.

EAST BRADFORD TWP., Pa. (WPVI) – A dog stuck after chasing a groundhog is safe at home thanks to Chester County, Pa. firefighters.

According to the West Chester Borough Fire Department, a 2-year-old Jack Russell terrier mix named Chloe broke free from her owner just before 5.30pm on Thursday.

Chloe had seen a groundhog and decided to chase it.

However, the dog did not catch the furry animal. Chloe ended up trapped under a concrete slab on the 600 block of Tower Lane in East Bradford Township.

Firefighters were called and set to work to save the dog.

“Chief officers along with the crews of Ladder 53 and Brush 51 began digging and carefully moving large slabs of concrete in an attempt to free Chloe,” the fire department said in a message. on Facebook.

It took the crews an hour and a half to free the dog.

Officials say Chloe was not seriously injured.
