The Supreme Court sets December 1 as the arguments to challenge Roe v. Wade

The Supreme Court on Monday presented the Dec. 1 arguments over Mississippi’s abortion ban after 15 weeks pregnant – a direct challenge to Roe vs. Wade.

State law has been blocked by lower courts because it directly violates Roe deer ‘s protections for pre-viability abortions.

In taking the case, the conservative supermajority of the Supreme Court signaled its openness to reviewing and potentially overturning the landmark 1973 ruling that legalized abortion nationwide, with a ruling expected next year. The judges said they wanted to hear arguments on whether all bans on abortion before a fetus can survive outside the womb are unconstitutional.
