MADISON, Wisconsin – Police in Madison are investigating after a unique piece of art was stolen from a vendor at the art fair in the square this weekend.

Police said officers were reported by the seller on Saturday. She wanted to report the theft of a $ 1,400 bronze statue of Humpty Dumpty sitting on a toilet she had called “Dumpty Humpty.”

The saleswoman, who visited the fair from out of state, said she saw two men linger around her stall as she settled in early in the morning on Saturday. When she left the booth, the men were gone – and so was the statue.

Police were able to find surveillance video of the area of ​​the men leaving the square with the statue. They are now asking the audience for help in identifying the two men. At least one suspect is believed to be a downtown student who just turned 21.
