The Shoals Theater returns to full capacity

FLORENCE, Alabama – Eighteen months ago, Governor Kay Ivey issued Alabama’s first stay-at-home order that required many businesses to shut down due to the pandemic.

Some entertainment venues, like the Shoals Theater in Florence, are still struggling to recover from the losses of 2020.

Theater general manager Steve Price said throughout 2021 that events have slowly returned to normal capacity with easing restrictions.

The theater reopened in August with a production by Annie and recently hosted Governor Ivey for a Shoals Chamber of Commerce event.

This Friday, the trend continues with a performance by actor Henry Cho.

“It means the world to us,” Price said. “It’s amazing to walk in here and smell that popcorn cooking, it’s really a theater, and look over there and see like we say ‘butt in the seats’. It’s amazing that we can come back.

The Shoals Theater is a non-profit organization and relies on ticket sales and donations to stay open.
