The Sheraton Maui Resort Reveals a Sacred Part of Hawaiian History

MAUI, Hawaii (KGO) — From rich culture to awe-inspiring beauty, the Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa has it all! During your stay, stop by the Sandbar for panoramic views of Ka’anapali Beach, signature cocktails, local dishes and live entertainment.

“This is the only lobby bar in Ka’anapali where you can get those kinds of views,” described Sheraton Maui operations manager Lauren Ray. “I think it’s a very special place because it’s centrally located on the property, and then our food, beverages and kitchen have done a phenomenal job of sourcing locally for this epic menu.”

Find creative bites you won’t find elsewhere, like a tower of fresh fish prepared three different ways and malasadas (fried dough) with three different toppings. Pair your meal with colorful craft cocktails made with local Maui rums, coconut milk, and homemade pineapple syrup.

This location is also the perfect place to observe the legendary cliff diving ritual that honors Hawaiian history.

“So every night at sunset, we host a nighttime cliff diving experience,” explained Katelyn Mayer, director of public relations at Sheraton Maui. “It’s something we’ve done every night since we opened in 1963 to honor our location.”

If you visit the Cliff Dive Bar, you can listen to a live narration that describes the story behind the Sheraton’s diving tradition. It is something that everyone can experience, whether you are a hotel guest or a visitor to the island.
