According to reports, The Rock is returning to WWE this year.
Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast reports that the 10-time world champion will return to the Survivor Series in November, an event that is tentatively scheduled to take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
After that, Hollywood’s highest-grossing actor would appear on both RAW and SmackDown.
Of course, the feeling is that this will prepare The Rock to take on their real cousin Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 38 in Dallas next year.
SmackDown is on FOX in the US and RAW on the US network. Naturally, both WWE TV partners want some of the world’s most famous men.
Reigns is currently at SmackDown where he reigns as the Universal Champion, but there will have been a draft in October, so that might not yet be true by the time The Rock appears on Survivor Series.
“I can tell you that USA Network wants it provisionally this Monday. By the way, it will go everywhere. It’s not just a RAW scenario. He’s going to go everywhere.
The Rock appearing in Survivor Series is a logical move even outside of Reigns’ potential story. The event will mark the 25th anniversary of Rock’s debut in WWE after his first appearance in the 1996 Survivor Series.
If recent reports that CM Punk and Daniel Bryan are linked to AEW are to be believed, WWE could certainly give a major injection and no one can like The Rock.
When he appeared on the very first SmackDown on FOX, the Blue Mark scored over 4 million, almost double its usual average since.
It could also be argued that The Rock vs. Roman Reigns remains the greatest match possible in pro wrestling today and WWE still has it in its back pocket. With WrestleMania 38 built around this, WWE will do well.
