The President of Ukraine to Russia: stop your bombs before starting ceasefire talks

By Aleksandar Vasović

KYIV, March 1 (Reuters) – Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky said on Tuesday that Russia must stop bombing Ukrainian cities before meaningful ceasefire talks can begin, at a time when the first round of negotiations, held this week, has produced few results

In an interview at a heavily guarded government compound, Zelensky urged NATO members to impose a no-fly zone to stop Russian air forces, saying it was a preventive measure and not intended to drag the alliance to a war with Russia.

Zelensky, who has rejected offers to leave the Ukrainian capital in the face of advancing Russian forces, also said Ukraine would demand legally binding security guarantees if NATO closed the door on Ukraine’s membership prospects.
