The Premier League next? Real Madrid confirm Sergio Ramos will leave club after 16 years

Real Madrid have announced that skipper Sergio Ramos will leave the club when his contract expires on June 30.

New Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti wanted to keep the legendary defender at the club, but the Spaniard wanted a new challenge after 16 years at the Bernabeu.

The 35-year-old would be a good short-term option for many clubs in Europe

Alongside President Florentino Perez, Ramos will be honored in a tribute on Thursday before addressing the media later.

Ramos only played two games in 2021 after undergoing successful knee surgery in January and was left on the bench for the last game of the season against Villarreal.

He was not included in Luis Enrique’s Spain squad for Euro 2020 due to a lack of form and fitness due to a series of insignificant injuries.

This is breaking news. Further updates will follow shortly.
