Jamie Weir visits all the courses for hosting The Open in a five-part special series, ‘The Open road trip’, this summer on Sky Sports.

Before the 150th Open which will take place on the Old Course of St Andrews, exclusively live on Sky SportsWeir travels to all 14 venues of golf’s original major in five days.

Weir plays an iconic hole on each course with someone offering either a strong connection to that venue or to that unique championship, with the series offering many interesting stories from The Open and iconic moments from the tournament archives.

“Over 1,300 miles, two ferry crossings and lots of coffee at motorway service stations – it was a grueling but incredibly fun five days,” Weir said of the series, which premiered on Sky Sports Golf this week. . “Each of the 14 courses has its own character, its own place in The Open’s history and its own stories to tell.

“I met wonderful characters and relived some of those unforgettable Open moments, remembered the great champions who lifted the Claret Jug and celebrated what makes The Open so special for so many people.

“I hope you enjoy watching it as much as my cameraman and good friend Chris Johnson did and I enjoyed watching it.”

The first episode airs on Sky Sports Golf on Monday July 4 at 7.30pm, with daily shows available at the same time each day of the week and all taking different courses on The Open roster – past and present. The show will be available on demand and also repeated during the week of the 150th Open.
