OCP Group plans to open a processing unit in Brazil to manufacture phosphate products, according to the Brazil-Arab News Agency (ANBA). The announcement was made Thursday by OCP President and CEO Mostafa Terrab during a meeting in Rabat with Brazil’s Agriculture, Livestock and Food Minister Marcos Montes. , who is on an official mission in Morocco.

After the meeting, the president of OCP Fertilizantes in Brazil, Olavio Takenaka, told ANBA that this will be the company’s first plant in Brazil and that the products will be made with rock phosphate imported from the Morocco. “The project is ongoing; we already have the land, six kilometers from the port of Itaqui,” he said. According to him, the engineering project is in the final phase of approval by the authorities.

The plant will be located in São Luís, the capital of the state of Maranhão. “We are also planning a dicalcium phosphate factory for animal feed,” the official added.
