We’re past quarter of the 2022 MLB season, and no team has a bigger lead in its division than the New York Mets. That alone would usually be cause for celebration for Amazins fans, but earlier this week they also received an encouraging injury update to their ace, Jacob deGrom. The two-time NL Cy Young Award winner is yet to take the hill in 2022 after being called off in April with a shoulder injury. But a recent report says deGrom is progressing well since the injury, so much so that he and the team believe it’s possible he could return before the All-Star break in July. Given injuries to Max Scherzer and Trevor Megill, recovering from Grom earlier than expected would be a boon for New York’s playoff hopes.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. In MLB history, only 21 pitchers have won more than one Cy Young Award, including deGrom. With that in mind, how many can you name in five minutes?
