The Masters 2024 LIVE: Leaderboard and latest updates with Scottie Scheffler in front ahead of final round on Sunday

Rory McIlroy laments slow play on ‘tough day’ at Masters

Scottie Scheffler holds a one-shot lead into Sunday at the Masters, with Collin Morikawa, Max Home and Ludvig Aberg all hot on his heels and chasing the green jacket at Augusta National.

It promises to be a fantastic final day of action, with the likes of Bryson DeChambeau and Xander Schauffele also not entirely out of contention, although they need good form with no room for error. Aberg in particular is hoping to make his case to become the first-ever debutant winner at the Masters, continuing his exploits at the Ryder Cup.

It’s Scheffler, however, after a third-round 71 that put him seven under par, who leads the way and will be the man to catch as he chases his second Masters title. Rory McIlroy failed to get back among the contenders on Saturday, while Tiger Woods made a record 24th consecutive cut at the tournament, only to endure a torrid day yesterday, with a round of 16 finish.

Why does TV coverage of the Masters start so late?

Golf fans hoping to watch the Masters will once again have to wait for full television coverage to begin, as organizers stick to their traditional broadcast model.

Established in 1934, the first men’s major tournament of the year takes place in Augusta, Georgia, with approximately 90 of the world’s best golfers competing to don the famous green jacket.

Sky Sports continues to be the exclusive live broadcast partner of the event in the UK, but while the first golfers will tee off at around 1:00 p.m. BST in the second round, it won’t be until 7:30 p.m. that viewers will be able to watch each group live. . This situation is exacerbated by the fact that many big names are scheduled to complete their first round Friday morning after Thursday’s weather delay, but fans will not be able to watch.

This is because The Masters organizers have limited the amount of live coverage they allow broadcasters to broadcast.

Masters tee times: Round 4 groups and schedule

We’ve reached the final day of the Masters and Scottie Scheffler, world No. 1 and current leader, will be paired with Collin Morikawa when they travel to a final round on Sunday evening.

Scottie Scheffler takes one-shot lead into Masters final round

In contention to win a second Masters title in three years, Scheffler carded a third-round 71 to finish seven under par, one shot ahead of fellow American Collin Morikawa, whose 69 was one of two sub-70 scores on Saturday .

Max Homa is two shots off the lead after a 73 containing 17 pars and a bogey, with Swede Ludvig Aberg a shot further back, the 24-year-old having turned professional just 10 months ago.

Aberg and Ryder Cup teammate Nicolai Hojgaard both have the chance to become the first player since Fuzzy Zoeller in 1979 to win on their Masters debut, with Hojgaard briefly holding the lead after a hat-trick of birdies from the eighth.

But Hojgaard then made a bogey on the next five holes and will begin the final round five shots behind.
