The same Instagram account used by Danish director Lars von Trier to solicit a muse earlier this month posted a message in response to Copenhagen’s promise to send fighter jets to Kiev.

“The lives of Russians matter too” » says the Instagram post in Danish, with an English translation appended in the caption.

It was addressed to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, described as someone who, “like someone hopelessly in love, sitting in the cockpit of one of the scariest killing machines of our time, smiling from ear to ear.”

Frederiksen and Zelensky posed for the cameras on Sunday aboard an F-16. Denmark has promised Ukraine 19 American-made fighter jets.

Lars von Trier diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease

Earlier this month, the same Instagram account posted a short video of von Trier looking for a “girlfriend or muse.” The twice-divorced director opened up about Parkinson’s disease, obsessive-compulsive disorder and “alcoholism is currently under control” but insisted that “On a good day, in good company, I can be a quite charming partner. »

von Trier, 67, is the best-known Danish filmmaker, famous for films such as “Antichrist”, “Melancholia”, “Nymphomaniac Flights”. I and II”, and “Dogville”.

Denmark and the Netherlands have led efforts to arm Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets, despite warnings from Russia that it could escalate the conflict. Copenhagen has already started training some Ukrainian pilots, while the Dutch have committed to delivering an unspecified number of fighters at a later date, with Washington’s blessing.
