The internet is backing a woman for telling her brother-in-law she wouldn’t sleep with him

The internet is backing a woman who told her brother-in-law she wouldn’t sleep with him ‘even if her life depended on it’.

In a viral post on Reddit’s popular “AmITheA**hole” forum, a woman using the username u/alyssajordan__ shared her story with the page’s followers, receiving more than 9,000 upvotes and 800 comments.

The 24-year-old Reddit user is engaged to her fiancé, Jax, but has a younger brother, Jacob, whom she went to college with. She explained how she used to “sleep” throughout her college experience. Both Jax and Jacob know her story, and Jacob tends to bring it up when they’re at a family event. Usually when this happens, Jax and the rest of his family urge him to stop because the Redditor is uncomfortable with unwanted jokes.

In a study conducted by Harris Poll, 31% of adults are victims of bullying. The effects of bullying on someone can cause them to experience anxiety, stress, depression, loss of sleep and confidence, among others found in the survey.

At Jacob’s birthday dinner, many of his family and friends were there. She wrote about how drunk Jacob was and how he told jokes that weren’t funny, including how shocked he was when the original poster (OP) didn’t try to sleep with him at the university.

“Being fed up and a bit drunk, I told him I wouldn’t sleep with him if my life depended on it. He got pissed off and kept quiet. Dinner was awkward the rest of the time,” he said. she stated.

Her fiancé and most family members defended her actions while Jacob’s friends sent her rude messages, calling her a “bitch” and a “w***e”.

Commenters were quick to defend the Reddit user.

“[Not the A**hole]. He’s mad that you did NOT sleep with him,” u/nixiedust85 wrote, receiving the top comment with 19,000 upvotes.

U/PomeloPepper questioned, “[Not the A**hole] Are you awesome NOT wanting to sleep with your fiancé’s brother?”

“[Not the A**hole]. He clearly wanted to sleep with you at the time and he’s pissed that he missed the chance to try. He just wants to, I don’t know, blame it on you? Like ‘if OP just realized I’m the perfect guy, we’d be together’ or something. But that’s not your problem, it’s his. And he has to deal with it,” u/LordDesanto said.

“[Not the A**hole]. It’s scary that the bro always brings it up in front of his family – or not at all,” exclaimed u/jabmwr, “F**k Jacob’s friends; picking on you for hurting their friend’s ego is pathetic.”
