Les Cent will make history in its opener as it kicks off with a women’s game. The new action-packed 100-ball competition kicks off with Oval Invincibles hosting Manchester Originals at the Kia Oval on Wednesday, July 21, before the same two men’s teams face off the next day.
It will be the first time that a major team sporting event in the UK will launch side-by-side men’s and women’s competitions and feature a women’s match.
Lord’s will host The Hundred Final (men and women) on August 21, while The Hundred Eliminator will take place the day before at the Kia Oval. The entire competition, including all men’s and women’s matches, will be broadcast live on Sky.
After the opening two matches, the remainder of the program will see the men’s and women’s teams playing on the same day, at the same venue, with the ambition to elevate women’s cricket through The Hundred.
England spinner and newly announced Manchester Originals signing, Sophie ecclestone, said: “The idea of making history and potentially bowling The Hundred’s first ball is really exciting. Manchester Originals Fellow and England Star Jos buttler said: “It’s great that we are involved in the first two games of The Hundred and that the competition starts with a women’s game.
“The rest of our squad will be announced today and I’m sure we and Oval Invincibles will take the pitch with some quality teams in the opener.”
The Hundred is a new tournament aimed at opening up cricket to more families and young people, merging fast, world-class cricket with family entertainment off the pitch.
It includes eight new teams based in Birmingham, Cardiff, Leeds, Manchester, Nottingham, Southampton and two in London. It’s 100 balls for each side, whoever scores the most points wins.

The Hundred Fixtures
On opening weekend (July 24-25), the Trent Rockets host Southern Brave, the Northern Superchargers host Welsh Fire and London Spirit take on Oval Invincibles in The Hundred’s first derby.
Manchester Originals will face Northern Superchargers at Emirates Old Trafford on July 28, with the game reversed at Emerald Headingley on August 12. The group matches end on August 18 with London Spirit traveling to Cardiff to face Welsh Fire.

Tickets will go on general sale from April 21. Affordability for families has been prioritized with tickets to U16 at £ 5 and adult tickets from £ 10 for two matches (female and male match) while the children U5 free.
Refund policies will be in place if matches are affected by Covid.

The Hundred will also be covered by the BBC, with live TV coverage of 10 men’s games and up to eight women’s live games, including The Hundred Final and the women’s opener.
Tickets for the 2021 edition of The Hundred will be available for purchase during four sales windows ahead of the competition this summer.
County members will have the first chance to secure tickets, followed by people who purchased tickets for the 2020 competition. Eligible members will be contacted directly by their county, and 2020 buyers will be contacted directly by The Hundred with over details about these opportunities.
The priority window will then open to all registered thehundred.com, from April 7 to 18, before their general sale will begin on April 21 and will be open to everyone to buy tickets.
