Although there are still qualifying games to be played on Friday, the real NBA playoffs begin on Saturday. This year’s playoffs are more open than ever, with no clear favorites yet to emerge. One of the reasons for this is the many star player injuries that will undoubtedly impact nearly every series. Golden State is “optimistic” that Steph Curry will play in Game 1 against Denver. The same can’t be said for Luka Doncic, unfortunately, as he’s likely out for the Mavs in Game 1 against Utah. Further east, the Celtics will be deprived of their defensive pillar. Ditto for Philly, which will not have its stopper, Matisse Thybulle, for all games in Toronto due to COVID-19 protocols. And that’s not even getting into the guys who missed most of the 2021-22 season with injuries, like Jamal Murray, Ben Simmons and Kawhi Leonard. The NBA playoffs can be a war of attrition, and with so many big names already battered, “availability” might be the Association’s most coveted ability over the next two months.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. In honor of the start of the playoffs, we wanted to see how many of the 25 players with the most points per game in playoff history you can name in five minutes.
