the government is accelerating the execution of projects

Faced with the accentuation of the problem of water stress, the Department of Water intends to accelerate the pace of implementation of the National Water Plan and the National Drinking Water Supply and Irrigation Program.

The Water Department intends to accelerate the pace of development of water resources. Faced with the accentuation of water stress in the country, the ministry is working on the recruitment of a specialized technical assistance in order to support it in the examination of the projects planned within the framework of the National water plan (PNE) 2020-2050 and National Program for Drinking Water Supply and Irrigation (PNAEPI) 2020-2027. On the legal level, the department of Nizar Baraka will initiate the process of preparation and elaboration of texts for the application of law 36-15 on water.

Faced with water shortage, adjustments have been made to the PNE to speed up its implementation

This plan is established for a period of at least thirty years and may be reviewed every ten years. Following successive years of drought, the PNAEPI has been set up. It constitutes the first phase of the PNE. The framework agreement for its implementation was signed before His Majesty the King on January 13, 2020, aimed at accelerating investments in the water sector. However, specify the ministry, and following, on the one hand, the evolution of the hydrological situation on a national scale, and, on the other hand, to the progress in the various studies of the hydraulic projects (projects of large dams, seawater desalination projects, interconnection projects…), adjustments have been made to this program, some of which are already being implemented. “This is so, and in a sense of dynamic planning, and in order to take into account the recommendations of the new development modelthe Water Department launches technical assistance for the finalization of certain components of the PNE project, the examination of the projects identified as the national hydrological situation evolves and the implementation of the hydraulic projects identified in the planning documents”, develops the ministry which reserves a budget of 4.21 million dirhams for this consultation.
