As per the Ministry of Interior notification, the ceremony at Red Fort will include the following events:

  • The arrival of the Prime Minister at the premises of Fort Rouge.
  • The Prime Minister will be presented with a guard of honor by the Delhi Armed Forces and Police.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unfurl the national flag accompanied by the national anthem.
  • This will be followed by the firing of a 21-gun salute.
  • Indian Air Force helicopters will rain down flower petals.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation.
  • All participants will stand up to sing the national anthem.
  • Tricolor balloons will be released.
  • State celebrations

    The notification says that in the various states, the Independence Day celebration will begin after 9 a.m. The events will include the unfurling of the national flag by the chief ministers of the states accompanied by the playing of the national anthem. State Police, Paramilitary Forces, Home Guards, NCC and Boy Scouts will present the Honor Guard. The main ministers will address the audience followed by the singing of the national anthem.
