A boxcutter attack in broad daylight was filmed in the heart of New York’s tourist hub.

The New York Police Department released video on Sunday showing an unidentified black man – seen wearing a black zip-up jacket and gray or white sweatpants – rushing behind a woman at around 10 a.m. in the 7th district. avenue and west 42nd street in the bustling tourist destination Times Square.

Taking a broad swipe, the assault suspect cut a woman rolling what appears to be a grocery cart with a box cutter in what police called an “unprovoked attack”.

The NYPD is seeking information on an assault suspect wanted after an “unprovoked” attack near Times Square.

The victim appears to be speeding away, dragging her cart behind her, before leaving the frame in the brief clip of surveillance video released by the police department.

The extent of his injuries was not immediately clear. A reward of up to $3,500 is offered for information about the suspect.

Police are asking anyone who can identify the suspect to call 1-800-577-TIPS. All calls are confidential.

NYPD data showed a 17.3% increase in felony assaults citywide in June compared to the same month last year. Citywide crime statistics for July were not released Monday.
