Faced with global warming, the aviation sector wants to react. This is the case of the ADP group which took place on Thursday November 17 at the first solar power plant in Caveirac in the Gard. This project of five hectares and 1,000 solar panels could cover 10% of the electricity consumed by the group.

The aviation sector is also tackling global warming. In France, the ADP group wants to bet on solar energy. On Thursday November 17, Aéroports de Paris took charge of its first power plant in Caveirac, in the Gard. Two other projects should also come out of the ground soon. This will serve to cover 10% of the electricity consumed by the group.

1,000 solar panels

On site, the plant represents five hectares of land and more than 1,000 solar panels are assembled and installed in the middle of the scrubland. An investment which makes it possible to produce the equivalent of the consumption of a small town of 4,000 inhabitants and above all to partially supply the airports of Roissy, Orly and Le Bourget.

A strategic partnership for Augustin de Romanet, CEO of the ADP group. “They are going to build us three solar parks which are going to supply us with electricity for 21 years. For us, it is very interesting because at the beginning our intention was a decarbonization intention. And with the energy crisis and the price going up today is also a good deal financially,” he said.

“We are the most competitive energy”

The ADP group entrusted the construction of the plant to Urbasolar. The company, a specialist in photovoltaic solar power plants, is awash in orders from industrialists, as explained by its secretary general Christophe Alcina. “Today, we are the most competitive energy. Energy prices for next year are around 300 euros per year. On our side, we can sell between 80 and 90 euros per MWh without any problem. This can allow businesses to survive,” he says.

If the order book is full, the deadlines are too long to complete the projects. That of the Caveirac solar power plant was voted at the end of 2014.
