In a recent development, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced that the Asian Cup 2022 will be held later this year between August 27 and September 11 in T20 format.
“The 2022 Asian Cup (T20 format) will be held in Sri Lanka from August 27 to September 11 later this year. Qualifying for the same will be played from August 20, 2022,” the ACC said in a statement. official statement.
Five test teams – Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh will participate in the competition. Additionally, an additional team will be added to the roster following a qualifying tournament scheduled for August 20. The tournament alternates between ODI and T20I. The last edition was to be played in 2020 but the event was postponed due to the pandemic. The qualifying tournament for the main event will feature the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Singapore and Hong Kong. The winner will then play in the Asian Cup.
