MADISON, Alabama – October 11-15 is National School Lunch Week.
Schools in Madison City are taking the time to thank their cafeteria staff for all of their hard work, especially during the pandemic. Thanks to food and staff shortages, food delivery delays, and even menu and seating changes, they’ve been successful.
Since the start of the pandemic, child nutrition workers have been designated as essential workers. Marty Tatara, the infant nutrition coordinator for MCS, says they are heroes.
“Kudos to all the child nutrition workers, especially my staff in the city of Madison,” Tatara said. “They haven’t said no once. When we asked them to do anything, to go above and beyond, they didn’t hesitate.
Over the past two summers, many child nutrition workers have remained at the forefront of the pandemic to feed students, even when school is not in session. Don’t forget to thank your favorite cafeteria workers!
