Texas Republican falls for dirty old fake name prank in court hearing

Texas State Rep. Jeff Leach (right) has become the latest lawmaker to fall victim to the fake name prank.
On Wednesday, after a third-grade teacher spoke out against an anti-trans bill before the Texas House Committee on Judiciary and Civil Jurisprudence, Leach called on other voters whose names had been on tap to comment.
“Is there a Connie Lingus here?” he asked, as people around the room laughed.
“And Anita Dickenmee?” Or Holden, Holden Middick? he added.
“OK. Are there three of those people here?” Leach asked, seeming to know full well that they were definitely not present.
“Okay,” he added. “You have your moment. I hope you like it.”
Leach took the gag in high spirits, telling Mediaite he was looking forward “to meeting Connie, Holden and Anita sometime soon.”
Just like members of a Virginia school board in 2021, when Phil McCracken, Eileen Dover, Wayne Kuhr, Suk Mahdik, Ophelia McCaulk and Don Kedick were all in attendance.
