“Terrorist attack” kills one in Russia – official – RT Russia and the former Soviet Union

A powerful car bomb exploded in the town of Energodar in Russia’s Zaporozhye region, a senior local official said.
According to Vladimir Rogov, the explosion occurred in the morning and killed at least one person. He described the incident as a terrorist attack.
Local police identified the victim as one of their officers in a preliminary report, TASS news agency said.
The blast hit a residential area and was powerful enough to shatter glass in apartment complexes as high as the ninth floor and wipe out a car parked nearby, the official said.
Rogov released footage allegedly shot at the scene, in which a firefighter can be seen putting out flames at the site of a car crash.
The Zaporozhye region, which was once part of Ukraine, joined Russia last year after residents of that region voted in a referendum for the transition. Kyiv dismissed the ballot as a “fake.” Energodar is notable as the site of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, the largest atomic facility in Europe.
