Tennessee thieves steal elderly woman’s wallet during Hilldale Baptist Church service

Two Tennessee robbery suspects are accused of asking an elderly woman at church to “pray” with them as they stole her wallet, police say.

The Clarksville Police Department (CPD) is investigating the incident which occurred at the sanctuary of Hilldale Baptist Church on February 9 at approximately 6 p.m.

Video footage of the incident shows the suspects approaching the 78-year-old victim who was seated on a bench and engaging her in conversation.

A suspect “asked the victim to pray with her,” Public Information Officer Scott Beaubien wrote in the description of the video.

“While they were praying, the second woman searched through the victim’s purse and stole his wallet,” Beaubien said. “The suspects attempted to use the victim’s credit cards at Sam and Kroger shortly thereafter.”

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact 931-552-1011.
