Tennessee highway covered in alfredo sauce after tractor-trailer crashes

This cleaning could cost a pretty penne.

An 18-wheeler loaded with alfredo sauce crashed onto a Tennessee highway on Tuesday, coating the roadway in the creamy concoction, officials said.

The truck slammed into a retaining wall on I-55 around 4:45 p.m. and the resulting rogue mess shut down parts of the freeway for hours, according to Memphis police and the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

Videos of the scene show the white sauce covering a massive strip on the north side of the freeway.

The crash also reduced traffic to a single lane on the south side, Fox 13 reported.

A woman was taken to a local hospital in non-critical condition, Memphis police told the outlet.

Cleanup crews worked into the evening to rid the road of the sauce before traffic finally resumed, according to Fox 13.

Early Tuesday morning, a large rig dumped more than 300,000 tomatoes following an accident on a California freeway, injuring three and causing major traffic delays.
