Tennessee couple wake up to stranger’s dog in bed

Knoxville, Tenn. (WATE) – A Tennessee couple recently woke up to find a friendly dog in their bed. To their surprise, they soon realized that the dog was not theirs.

Julie and Jimmy Johnson live in Ocoee, Tennessee, and own three dogs. It is therefore not uncommon for them to wake up with a dog in their bed. Nothing seemed wrong when they woke up on Sunday May 1 with a dog in their bed, but they soon realized it wasn’t theirs.

“That’s the weirdest message I’ve ever had to make. Is that your dog?” Julie Johnson wrote on Facebook.

“It’s completely normal to wake up in our house with one of OUR dogs in bed with us,” she wrote on Facebook alongside photos of the mystery dog. A little problem, THIS IS NOT OUR DOG, and we don’t know how she got into our house either. At first we thought it was one of ours, but they rarely lay on the pillows! In total darkness, I just assumed it was. Wouldn’t we all do it? When daylight started streaming through our curtains, we realized we were snuggling up to someone else’s dog.

“Why didn’t my dogs bark at her?” No idea. They bark at everything.

After posting the photos on Facebook, Julie learned that the dog’s name was Nala and that she lived nearly two miles away. She said her first reaction when she woke up was a little worrying, but she soon realized Nala was just a big teddy bear.

“When I first woke up the room was dark and I just assumed it was one of my 3 dogs in bed…I was wrong.” Julie said.

She explained that a big thunderstorm had hit early that morning. She thinks Nala was scared and looking for shelter and was able to get into the house around two or three in the morning.

“Why didn’t my dogs bark at her?” No idea. They bark at everything,” Julie said. “Maybe they knew she needed help too.”

Nala’s surprise visit drew attention on social media and was even covered by Good Morning America.

“I never thought my time to shine and make people smile would be lying in my bed with a weird dog, in my nightgown with unbrushed hair and sleeping in my eyes,” she wrote. .

The family has stayed in touch with Nala since discovering her in their room. On Tuesday, they found her for a date with a puppy.

“We had ice cream and sweets and had a fantastic time!” Julie said.
