Telegram may change the free slogan to indicate the arrival of the Premium service, suggests codes

A Telegram Premium subscription plan could be on the way soon and the subscription should give users access to unlock premium stickers and exclusive reaction emojis. Users who download the app currently see the tagline: “Telegram will be free forever. No ads. No fees”. However, that could change shortly. In the latest update, the code for an upcoming version of the Telegram app has been spotted online with a different tagline dropping the free tagline. The news channels indicate that the company is testing another way for the app to generate revenue.

Noted Developer Alessandro Paluzzi (@alex193a) on Twitter suggested that Telegram changes the initial slogan of the application to launch its paid version soon. The new data channels shared by the developer include a new tagline “Telegram provides unlimited free cloud storage for chats and media.” The screenshot also suggests that there are plans to run ads. The Telegram Premium subscription should also unlock additional stickers.

The new slogan is not yet active on the messaging app. It will probably only be activated once the premium subscription is officially announced.

Telegram recently rolled out its 8.7.2 beta for iOS which included new emojis and reaction stickers. These new stickers and emojis would be premium features available only for Telegram Premium users. All users will apparently get a prompt asking if they want to sign up for the Telegram Premium subscription plan when viewing these reactions or stickers on the instant messaging app. However, the company has yet to share much information about the exact pricing and availability of the Telegram Premium service.

In April this year, the company added several new features to the app, including custom notification tones, setting custom durations to mute chats or auto-delete messages, and improved forwarding that preserves replies. It also introduced an updated picture-in-picture mode for Android users, while message translation was improved on iOS.
