Telegram CEO Pavel Durov indicted in France for alleged criminal use of the app

Pavel DurovTelegram CEO, has been charged in France with complicity in the distribution of sexual images of children and other crimes such as drug trafficking on the messaging app.

The charges against Durov paint a picture of a platform that was almost entirely uncooperative with authorities and include allegations that he refused to help agencies conduct legal wiretaps on suspects, Paris prosecutors said in a statement Wednesday. He is also accused of enabling organized criminals to conduct illegal transactions on the platform.
