It happened around 7:20 p.m. Thursday in the 6100 block of City Avenue at Premier at City Line in Overbrook.
Police said the suspect was aged in his 20s.
He suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two firearms were found at the scene, according to police.
Residents returning from Thanksgiving plans found it strange to see the building’s front door left open. They also received an email from property managers stating they were working with authorities regarding an unfortunate situation.
“I thought maybe someone came through the door but not someone’s apartment – that’s scary,” said Keenan Walker who lives inside the apartment complex.
It remains unclear whether the owner faces any charges.
