INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A man searches for the two people he says boldly stole his kitten from his backyard in broad daylight.
Jim Hamilton works for a security company and has all the theft on surveillance video. He lives in East Caven Street, near South East Street, and says that on July 9 he walked out of his house to get something from his camper van parked in his driveway.
” I did not know [the kitten] was outside. He’s over there looking for me in the garden and two guys come and get the cat and leave, ”Hamilton said, shaking his head. “Awful.”
The video corroborates his story: two young males are seen bending over and playing with the black kitten. They talk to each other, look around, pick up the animal and walk away.
“I was heartbroken. I can’t believe anyone would do that,” Hamilton said. “The cat liked to climb on top of me and stay on my shoulder while I made coffee. I was attached to this. cat.
The kitten was black with white paws and was three months old. Hamilton had not yet decided on his name. He believes the two people stole the kitten because they loved him too.
He sent the video to the IMPD for investigation but has not heard back for several days. He also filed reports for a stolen catalytic converter and even a large plastic trash can of his property.
“It was full of trash,” Hamilton recalls, showing News 8 the surveillance video of the theft. A man is seen trying to cover his face with a face cover, but it slips as he pushes the trash away while walking his dog.
“He took him to the park. I found the wheels and trash near the railroad tracks and he continued. It’s weird, ”Hamilton said.
The strange, petty crime is enough to make Hamilton want to leave, even though he has lived in this house for almost 30 years.
“I don’t know. I just can’t believe they took the cat,” he said.
