Stunning aerial video shows Mississippi towns leveled by powerful tornadoes

Video footage taken Saturday morning showed widespread destruction after tornadoes tore through Mississippi.
A severe weather outbreak in several southern states, Friday evening and Saturday morning, at least 23 people were killed in Mississippi.

Footage captured by camera drones shows residential and commercial structures wiped out by the deadly storms in Rolling Fork and Armory, Mississippi.

The first major tornado started in the town of Rolling Fork, FOX Weather Reported, and continued 30 miles northeast through Silver City – first aid agencies are reporting severe damage in both areas. Radar analysis indicated it was on the ground for approximately 80 miles and kicked up debris at least 20,000 feet in the air during its destructive trajectory.

Armory Mayor Eldridge Walker told Fox News’ Neil Cavuto that his community had been “devastated”.

“We have lost lives. We have people who are injured and I have friends that I have lost and families that have been displaced,” he explained, “and right now we are working very hard to make sure that these families who are displaced and the children – we take care of them and (get) what they need at this stage.”

Walker said the storm arrived in the area quickly, leaving flat ground where the buildings used to be.
