Breitbart News detailed the shocking images of the February 3 incident:

In the clip, screaming is heard as the person registration keeps the camera on the ceiling of the school bus. As the screams escalate, the camera pans to show a boy in a maroon-colored shirt allegedly hitting a girl in a white top.

Moments later, a boy wearing a black hoodie appears to bend over the girl and repeatedly punch her in the head.

WARNING – VIDEO GRAPHIC:

Fernandez writing that the incident was “much more serious than a simple altercation between students” and that she disagreed with the school policeman’s decision to issue a civil citation rather than arrest her for assault and injuries. She argued that the officer’s response did not match the “level of violence displayed by the 15-year-old against a much younger and smaller victim”.

Likewise, the victim’s mother took issue with the school’s approach to bullying and violence, 7 News Miami noted.

“My child is not the first, and if they don’t do something, it won’t be the last,” she said. “It’s just very sad because there were many points where the adults could have prevented it from getting as bad as it did.”

Local 10 News reported that the mother expressed her intention to press charges on Thursday.

“My goal is not to incriminate other children,” she said. “My goal is to make sure they have child safety so this doesn’t continue to happen.”

The boy was scheduled to appear in juvenile court on Wednesday, according to 7 News Miami.
