Stolen gun, drugs recovered during traffic stop at Limestone Co.


LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – – – An Athens man faces drug possession and trafficking charges following a traffic stop in County Limestone.

The Limestone County Narcotics Unit conducted a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 72 at Boylan Street on Wednesday, November 2.

They located 29-year-old Jimmy Dale Gatlin III with a stolen firearm, 2.4 ounces of methamphetamine, 24 grams of marijuana and paraphernalia.

Gatlin was charged with the following: distribution of a controlled substance (marijuana), drug trafficking (methamphetamine), possession of a concealed weapon without a license, possession of drug paraphernalia (2nd offense – felony).

Gatlin was released from the Limestone County Detention Center on $43,250 bond.
