Former Donald Trump adviser Steve Bannon believes President Biden will face impeachment over the ongoing immigration crisis on the southern border as well as the infamous laptop belonging to his son, Hunter Biden.
“I strongly believe Biden will be impeached by the House after a thorough investigation,” Bannon said in a recent interview on “The Truth with Lisa Boothe” podcast that aired Thursday.
“Not like they tried to do with President Trump,” he explained. “I think the first article will be his initiation and exacerbation of the invasion on the southern border. I think the Hunter Biden laptop will be another, all aspects. And I think Fauci and what they knew about Fauci, CDC, FDA with the health of the American people will be the third.
“And I believe Joe Biden will be impeached,” Bannon said.
The former Trump adviser noted that he did not believe Biden would be removed from office following a House impeachment vote because there were not enough votes in the Senate.
“But I believe Biden will be impeached after a full and thorough investigation, not this political operation that the Democrats have done,” he said, referring to his former boss’s impeachment trials.
In February 2020, Trump was acquitted by the Senate for the first time on charges of obstructing Congress and abuse of power after pressuring Ukraine to investigate Biden and his son Hunter. At the time, only one Republican — Senator Mitt Romney of Utah — voted to convict him.
About a year later, the Senate again acquitted Trump on an article of impeachment, this time on charges of inciting the deadly Jan. 6 riot on Capitol Hill.
Seven Republicans – Sens. Richard Burr of North Carolina, Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Ben Sasse of Nebraska, Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania and Romney – voted to convict.
During the interview, Bannon pointed to the increasing number of crossings along the southern border, calling it a “full invasion.”
“It’s a complete invasion now. Now it’s destroying the country, we should stop all legal immigration immediately,” he said.
“The only way to make sure that we protect working-class Hispanics, African Americans, under 35s, to make sure they have access to high-tech jobs is that we have to eliminate, at least now, but on pause, from all legal immigration into the country for at least two years to ensure that we get full employment in tech jobs for US citizens.
The Biden administration has been repeatedly criticized in recent weeks by members of both parties over the growing number of encounters with migrants along the border – particularly as a massive increase is expected later this month if Title 42 is lifted successfully.
Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas warned this week that up to 18,000 migrants could cross the border daily if health regulations end. Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, Title 42 has allowed border officials to quickly deport migrants without hearing asylum claims.
“People paying for this, remember every state is a border state, every city is a border city,” Bannon said. “Some of the worst problems with fentanyl and these drugs are in places like Ohio, West Virginia, West Pennsylvania, Michigan. So every town has become a border town. Every state is a border state.
Bannon, 68, is set to stand trial later this summer in contempt of congressional charges after ignoring a subpoena for documents and testimony related to the Jan. 6 riot from the House Select Committee investigating the attack.
“I’m not going to back down, I’ll never back down an inch,” Bannon told Boothe. “I’m definitely not going to back down an inch from a little Jamie Raskina and a sneaky change in this fake committee. This is a totally bogus committee, and I will never back down from Merrick Garland.
He accused the committee of “shooting” for him and other Trump allies and the former president.
“No, we’ll defeat them, we’ll defeat them at the polls, and then we’ll start kicking those bums out.”
