Stephen Colbert lays out the Trump-backed candidate problem in 2 scathing words

Former President Donald Trump’s endorsement no longer carries the same punch as it once did. Thursday, Stephen Colbert pointed the finger at a struggling MAGA candidate: Doug Mastriano.

Mastriano, the Trump-backed Republican candidate for governor of Pennsylvania, is down 10 points in the FiveThirtyEight average, and “The Late Show” host whittled the candidate problem down to just two words.

“He suuuuuucks!” said Colbert, stretching out that second word to the applause of the audience.

“Because historically, nothing projects a better winner than a Confederate soldier in Pennsylvania,” Colbert added.

Mastriano’s growing popularity also led to an embarrassing moment this week when he held a rally and hardly anyone showed up.
