Portsmouth Police said they responded at around 11.28am to a call for service near the 2300 block of Greenwood Drive.

Police say a man brandished a sharp object at a Portsmouth officer at the scene. The officer shot the man and he was seriously injured. The man was taken to hospital for treatment.
